Czech Military Plane Airlifts Over Eighty from Israel

(MENAFN) A Czech military aircraft carrying 82 evacuees from Israel landed in Prague early Sunday, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense.

The majority of the passengers were Czech citizens, the ministry confirmed. "Due to the closure of airspace, it was not possible to send a military plane directly to Israel. Therefore, the evacuation took place again via one of the neighboring countries," the statement read.

This mission marked the second evacuation operation arranged by the Czech government in light of the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Iran. The initial flight, which brought back 66 people, arrived in Prague on Tuesday.

The ministry emphasized that leaving Israel remains a logistical challenge due to the continued closure of its airspace. Czech nationals facing urgent situations have been urged to reach out to the Czech Embassy in Tel Aviv for help or further instructions.

Earlier in the week, the Czech government also announced a temporary suspension of operations at its embassy in Tehran, citing rising tensions across the region.
