China Accuses Philippines of Seeking to Destabilize South China Sea

(MENAFN) A spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, Jiang Bin, issued a strong rebuke against the Philippines on Friday, accusing it of seeking to destabilize the South China Sea by aligning with foreign powers.

The criticism came during a press briefing where Jiang addressed recent comments from the Philippine armed forces regarding a joint naval exercise conducted with India near Huangyan Dao.

Jiang cautioned against the Philippines' actions, stating, "We oppose using the South China Sea issue as a pretext to provoke confrontation, and believe that military cooperation between relevant countries should not target any third party or undermine regional peace and stability."

He called on the Philippines to cease its collaborative efforts to create unrest in the region and urged a return to dialogue and consultation as the proper method for resolving disputes.
