Erdogan Says Turkey Maintains Cautious Optimism Amid Regional Tensions
Speaking at an investment-focused event held at the Dolmabahce Presidential Office in Istanbul, he said Ankara is actively working to ensure that the current ceasefire conditions become lasting and that they eventually lead to a more just and stable peace framework.
He emphasized that the region—and the wider international system—cannot revert to previous conditions, warning that the long-term effects of recent upheavals will become more apparent over time. “The repercussions of fractures caused by such a major tremor will become clearer over time,” he said.
Erdogan described the current period as one of the most unstable in recent memory, noting that uncertainty has spread across multiple sectors of the global economy, including energy, trade, tourism, transportation, and production.
While acknowledging that tensions have somewhat eased, he cautioned that full stability remains uncertain, saying, “While the intensity of the fire has subsided, neither our region nor the world can be 100% certain about the future of tensions,” he said, according to reports.
He added that Türkiye continues to engage in diplomatic efforts in coordination with allied and friendly states, aiming to manage ongoing crises. Erdogan also stated that Türkiye has strengthened its position as a stabilizing force in its region, saying the country has “once again confirmed and cemented its status as an island of stability.”
